Latest Updates from Our Project:

Elaborate Basing!
almost 5 years ago – Sun, Feb 09, 2020 at 12:03:25 AM

In January we sent out a handful of Hydras to some wonderful painters to tackle. James Wappel has been doing a few livestreams, working on both the Hydra and an elaborate base. He wanted to mess around with some other great products, such as texture rollers and the ProAcryl paint range, to create this incredible ruined temple with object source lighting (OSL) coming from some flaming skulls scattered across the floor.

As always, James' work is amazing, and if you'd like to see more of it you should visit his YouTube channel, HERE.

How to Add your Add-ons and the Pick & Mix
almost 5 years ago – Sun, Feb 09, 2020 at 12:03:14 AM

It has been wonderful chatting with so many of you over the past week. Your excitement and enthusiasm for this project is really shows us we've done the right thing!

Some of you have been asking for some clarification on how to go about adding items from the Add-Ons list (found towards the bottom of the Campaign page), and others have had some uncertainty on how to use the "£1+ Mythic Pick & Mix" pledge level. So, we've put together this guide to help you.

In essence, this works the same way regardless of the pledge level you choose. Choosing the "Pick & Mix" level just means you aren't interested in grabbing any of the items we've featured in the other levels (you might only want three Centaurs, for example), but if you are interested in any of the bundles you are better off selecting one of those levels, as you'll get a bit of a discount on your purchase.

How to adjust your Pledge Amount

During the campaign is the perfect time to add anything extra from our list of Add-Ons. You will, of course, be able to add more during the pledge manager phase but pledging now allows us to add more models to the range sooner and you can do that by following the steps listed below.

Example: You have pledged for the "£15 Jason and the Argonauts" level, and you would like to add a box of Skeleton Warriors (£20), one of each of the Wild Centaurs (£13 each, £39 total), and a pack of Satyrs with Bows (£7) you would follow Steps One to Three, and at Step Four you would change your total Pledge Amount to £81. Then click "Continue" to confirm the change.

Hopefully that helps clarify the procedure. If you have any questions at all you can ask here, or on our Facebook Group for Mortal Gods, here.

Inspired by the shot of Jason, his Argonauts, and fellow Greeks leaping from their ship onto the sands (at the top of this update) we managed to sneak in another size-comparison shot. Thanks to his heroic status, and the things he has faced on his journeys, Jason (left) stands a full head taller than a regular Greek leader (right) and his Argonauts (centre) are also impressive physical specimens.

So, thank you all! Please continue to share with your friends far and wide, went want to reach as far as we can with this one.

The First Faction Focus - Hades
almost 5 years ago – Sun, Feb 09, 2020 at 12:03:12 AM

George Asling, co-author of Mortal Gods: Mythic, has started putting together soe great Faction Focus pieces that will give everyone a bit of an idea of what exactly is in each faction, and how these units will function on the battlefield.

The first of these was posted in the Mortal Gods Facebook group yesterday, but we thought this was also a great place to "archive" them. So, we'll hand this over to George:

Over the coming weeks I will be sharing a series of Faction Focus posts with you all to delve into how each of the factions sit in the world of Mortal Gods. You have now all, hopefully, seen the miniatures and the card pack contents (scroll to the bottom to see the units in the Hades deck).

FACTION FOCUS - HADES

Hades, Lord of the underworld. A must have for any game featuring Greek Mythology, and skeletons are one thing that you have all wanted since we launched Mortal Gods, right? The overall aim with this faction was the relenting hordes of skeletons backed by some hefty beasts. Let’s start by taking a look at the leader.

The Priest of Hades

As with all the forces in Mortal Gods: Mythic you will need a priest to control and get the best from beasts and warriors available to you. This cannot be more true than for the Priest of Hades, he brings with him a selection of abilities which allow him to control and manipulate his bony friends.
These begin with Forced Will. Allowing him to spend one of his activations to return a number of pebbles already spent by skeletons to the draw. This lets them activate again as they relentlessly shamble towards your victims. Next, we have Re-animate - this does exactly what it says on the tin and lets you bring your skeletons back from a heap of bones ready to carry on the fight. Now we come to Frenzy, we all remember the timeless scene from Jason and the Argonauts, with frenzy you can unleash that on your foe! Finally we have Bone Shield, letting you siphon some damage to a nearby unit of skeletons and save your skin.

The Skeletons and The Fallen Hero

The mainstay of your Hades Lochos, these guys are cheap and expendable. Throw them at your enemies by the boatload and you can’t go far wrong! Not much else to say about these guys, combined with the Priest above there is endless fun to be had. One thing that sets apart the Skeletons from other units is their ability to form a horde, similar to a phalanx but offering an offensive bonus rather than a defensive one they can get very scary, very quickly.
The Fallen hero is a skeleton not to be messed with. As tough as a living Promachos with the ability to command the skeletons under his influence he is a must have in your Lochos.

Zealots and Temple Guard

Zealots are crazed fanatics of Hades, the love nothing more than sending as many people through his gates as possible. Death holds no fear for them and they will always pass courage rolls as they have nothing to fear.
The Temple Guard will stop at nothing to protect and serve the priest, you will be wanting to get these guys in the fight as a critical hit will mean extra energy for your priest to carry out his manipulation of the dead.

The Hydra

One of the most formidable beasts of the Mythic supplement. This guy really packs a punch, he has nine heads and an attack stat that makes your opponent know about it. The only way to bring him down is to hack off those heads. As the number of heads goes down so does it’s effectiveness on the field of battle. Never fear though! As you would expect from such a legendary creature, there is a chance it can grow some heads back in between rounds.
To round off this heady mix of destruction the Hydra has one last trick up its sleeve, once per round in can unleash a deadly breath attack melting the armour from anyone who dare face it!

Units covered in the Hades (Lord of the Underworld) Card Deck

Priest of Hades, Fallen Hero (Skeleton Champion), Hydra, Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Archers, Temple Guard, Temple Guard (single), Zealots, and Zealot (single)

So there you have it, a quick look at the Forces of Hades and how you can expect them to play in your games of Mortal Gods: Mythic. I am sure you will agree they are looking very fun indeed and hopefully we will see lots of hordes storming across the table in the near future.

I also managed to take a few cool photos early this morning that feature some of the forces of Hades (along with Jason and his boys). We hope you like them!

Thanks for supporting us, and for sharing the campaign with your friends!

Free Cards and Rules for Devoted and Pantheon level pledges!
almost 5 years ago – Sun, Feb 09, 2020 at 12:03:09 AM

We've made it to the next Stretch Goal! Thank you all for your support, and welcome to our new backers.

Now that we've passed the £21,000 mark, we will be adding a free Card Decl (as appropriate) to everyone pledge at the Devoted level (i.e., the Devoted of Hera pledge level now also includes a deck of Hera cards and the rules supplement for FREE!). And everyone pledged at The Pantheon level will receive all four Card Decks and a rules supplement absolutely FREE!

Speaking of The Pantheon!

We have had a number of backers who prefer their miniatures in metal ask if we could include a pledge level which was essentially The Pantheon! but in a metal and resin mix (the big creatures will only ever be in resin, but the smaller creatures and heroes will be in metal). We talked it through and have decided to add The Pantheon! (Metal/Resin) pledge level for £375! So, have at it, everyone!

What's Next?

Our next Stretch Goal will bring the final two packs of delightful Satyrs to the range. When we reach £24,000 we'll be able to add the Satyrs with Spears (3 in a pack) to the Add-Ons as a £7 pack, as well as adding this very cool Satyr Leader to help command your forces. He'll join the other heroes as a £5 pack in the Add-Ons.

Beyond that we have a few other surprises in store for you. I have been on the phone with our sculptors and hope to have a freebie or two to show off soon. Additionally, down the track we have a BIG mini on the way. The image at the top of this Update might give you an idea of who (well, what really) is lumbering towards the campaign.

And finally, our friend James Wappel started work on his Hydra last night and has livestreamed his painting work on YouTube. You can check it out here:

Thanks for sharing, we are excited to see how far we can take this!

Faction Focus - Hera the Cursed
about 5 years ago – Thu, Feb 06, 2020 at 02:06:49 PM

We have definitely passed the 320 Backers mark, so that's a FREE Mortal Gods rules PDF to all backers and we are oh-so-close to reaching the £27,000 Stretch Goal of a FREE sacrificial altar to all backers who have pledged over £70! Let's keep things rolling along and start adding more of those lovely objectives to our rewards.

George Asling, co-author of Mortal Gods: Mythic, recently posted a Faction Focus (this time for Hera and her swift-moving followers) on our Facebook group, HERE. If you aren't already a member, you really should head on over and join up!

Faction Focus Hera

Fast, aggressive and cunning. Led by the Priestess and Medusa the Hera faction brings a different dynamic to Mythic. Our aim for these troops was create a swift and deadly force that relies on quick wits and risky actions to get the job done.

Priestess of Hera

The priestess of Hera plays a huge support role in the field of battle. She is armed with the ability to heal friendly warriors within line of sight. She will need to be close to the action to help her followers but it is wise to keep her protected by a few temple guards or hounds.

The Gorgons

The core of any Hera Lochos, Medusa, Stheno and Euryale. These three sisters can be taken individually or all three. They have been designed to compliment each other on the table and prove to be a very tough cookie to crack.

Medusa, the one everybody wants (well i do anyway), is armed with her iconic bow. Not only is she a powerful shot with it that can devastate most mortal men, she can also choose to fire her bow at an attacking enemy instead of making an active defence. Not only this, she also has the ability she is most famous for, turning any unfortunate soul who meets her gaze to stone. Any unit that begins or ends an activation within a set distance of Medusa must roll a die, on a double sword result the unlucky soul is turned to stone and becomes terrain for the rest of the game.

Stheno is the most aggressive of the three sisters, with a high attack value and ability to roll 2d6 and choose the highest result when charging she definitely won't be shying away from a fight. Get her up the table with the support of her two sisters and she will wreak havoc amongst the enemies lines.

Euryale is the most defensive of the three and has the ability to make a free move towards her sisters immediately after they take damage to help them out and offer support where needed. Armed with a shield and wild card in defence she is excellent at screening her sister’s ominous advance.

Harpies and Sirens

The Harpies are one of the most aggressive warriors we have seen in Mortal Gods to date. They aren’t the most resilient of warriors but what they lack in resistance they definitely make up in bite. The the ability to fly meaning they can move over terrain and warriors as if they were not there gives them a tactical edge. They can hide behind a tree line or building and jump out to attack when the moment is right. With an attack value of 4 and Pegasus they really pack a punch. Once they have killed their foe there is a chance they may stay and feed on the slain. This consumes them for a round but whilst they are feeding they cause Horror.

To contrast the Harpies we have the Sirens, these are primarily support warriors. They are not the best hand to hand fighters, their strength lies in their ability to lure  the enemy towards them with the sweet sound of the siren song. Excellent at manipulating the enemies position to isolate targets for your other warriors to kill.

Temple Guard

The temple guard of Hera carries medium armour to give them the mobility to keep up with the rest of the Lochos. This does not negatively impact their staying power however as they are blessed with the ability to heal themselves and stay in the fight.

We also wanted to show you a couple of different approaches to painting the "lovely" Harpies. On the left is a trio painted by friend of Footsore, Chris Bone, and the trio on the right were painted by yours truly.

Temple Guard

As long as everything goes smoothly, we should have an update for you tomorrow about the Temple Guard, with some assembled and based photos, which will be very exciting!

Until then, please keep sharing the campaign, and let's reach beyond the Fleece towads that massive Minotaur!
